What is the best way to say something?
Something that you find difficult to say? Something serious? Here are a few suggestions.
Of course they are not exhaustive.

(1) Say it directly. Face to face.
This is the best way but unfortunately it is very tough for people who are shy or introverted or for people who words are seldom taken seriously. It is worse when the other party has this preconception that you are either poking fun or being sarcastic. This way is the best because one can convey sincerity directly. One can use facial expression and body language to convey the message instead of relying on words alone. The response is going to be direct into one's face, so it takes lots of courage. Well, unless one is very thick-skinned.

(2) Say it directly. Over the phone or through SMS.
There is some kind of insurance here. There is no face to face contact here. One can pretend to be strong and cry somewhere else. And better still, there is no need to pretend for a long time because one doesn't have to run to somewhere. Just put down the phone, or for SMS, just don't reply, and bang one's head on the wall. Simple. However, the level of sincerity is lower here. One is unable to see the respondent face and is often difficult to plan what follow-up action to take. Worse still, one words may be interpreted wrongly and it is hard to judge if the other party is taking one seriously.

(3) Write it on a card or letter.
And ask the respondent to read on the spot.Saves a lot of trouble. Prevents one from saying the wrong thing or forgetting to say something. On the spot, effective and able to offer explanation if needed.I personally feel that this method is still quite sincere. Because one is there and offer oneself to be shot at or whatever. One advantage is that one can have some breathing time before the response comes. However, the contents in the letter or card must be clear and simple, else there is a risk of the reader getting tired and asking one to explain. In the end, it will be the same as method (1).

(4) Buy a gift, preferably something cute, try to create an impression.
Not a bad idea. Buying a gift is a good way of expressing sincerity. However, the gift must be appropriate. Preferably, the gift should not be too expensive, or else if the other party doesn't like the gift and returns it to you, then money and time spent will be wasted. Most of the time, something simple will do.But a gift is not enough. One must say something. For example, I am getting you a friendship band so that if the band represents me then I will always be near to you if you wear it, or something like that. Usually, the gift and the speech must match. Cannot buy a swiss knife and tell the other party that you will kill yourself if she rejects you. Sounds like a maniac. Not advisable.

(5) Sing a song. Use a guitar. Or without. No wind instruments please. You can't talk and blow a saxophone at the same time right?Good if one has a good voice. Big turn-off if one sings like a rooster (unless the other party likes to be amused). One possible way is to read the lyrics and explain the significance of the words. It is definitely not easy to find a song that fully describes one's feelings. It is also difficult to find a song that is totally relevant. One may try to use an assortment of songs but personally, I feel that things will be very confusing if one uses too many songs, unless one is blessed by a poetry spirit that any garbage of words can sound melodic. But then speaking, if one is so good at poetry, why rely on lyrics?

And lastly, choose a song that the other party listens to. For example, if the other party listens mainly to Mandarin songs, try not to sing some English songs. Unless they are so famous that everybody knows them
